the US needs a spec series rally car..maybe not to THAT level of build but a spec series would be awesome. And that car makes me giddy.

Can someone tell me why there isnt alot more interest in the USA in rallying? Were a 3rd world country running probably the biggest group on S2000's in the world for a national championships, 9 in total, with probably another 3 or 4 next year!
Im hoping to nav in one sometime very soon, i am currently in an A7 Golf 4, pretty hight spec as well, just 2 wheel drive but seriously rapid. We mix it with some of the N4 subarus and Evo's
Strange to me how boring racing in circles catches the imagination of Americans, but probably the most entertaining and spectacular motorsport in the world hasnt caught on?
Curious to know

Can't speak for the States regarding their seemingly lack of interest for rally racing as I'm in Australia but regrding the S2000 class I know you guys have been running it for years in SA but for Australia and the rest of the world the FIA has just come out with the specs for this class which CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport) have now allowed.
There are two teams running S2000 spec cars here currently against group N cars they are Toyota Racing Development with Neal Bates an Simon Evans and Ford with 2 Focus S2000 cars, VW currently doesn't have any factory team rallying here. I imagine there will be more factory teams next year as this is the first year S2000 cars have been homologated.
Out of curiosity do you know Ralph Chadwick, he is an expat South African living in Brisbane now who used to run a VW in the championship over there.
Also what is the cost for the S2000 Polo and who do I contact regarding buying one new or second hand?
Cheers Alastair

Hi Alister, please send me your contact details , in the mean time i will try to get you info on prices and availability of cars.
Rene Georges in Belgium has the contract to distribute the VW Polo in Europe , and Red world rally for toyota, you could possibly contact them as well. for info, from red mail enq@redworldrallyteam.com
With the new Auris coming next year i get the feeling there may be a few Corolla's (we call them RunX) available next year from South Africa, it all depends on how many privateers may want them.
i have heard rumours some cars being imported next year, possibly even a Ford as run there in Aus.
Ralph Chadwick, name rings a bell, but cant say i know him.

I dont know why VW isnt bringing that stuff here to the states, that will save the company, I wish they would quit trying to be Mercedes and just build more fast fun cars. ok rant over![]()

If by some odd chance somebody is serious,we do have friends at VWR SA and the complete sales info from Rene Georges on these cars. We have vehicle importation services already in place. There is currently interest in South America for these cars which we are pursuing... the potenial owners there have expressed interest in racing in North America.

Rally cars are street legal.

but i must admit, getting one through state inspections is a bit tough. As soon as they see a cage they shut down towards you and forget that the car has ALL the required equipment.
