IIRC it's had several owners since 1552. Every time I've seen it since it's been in pretty decent condition. I wouldn't call someone a moron based off a little damage. Accidents happen.

It does live in Ohio.
Saw Project X at Grossman Tuning at their BBQ a month or so ago...didn't look bad except for a couple of the welds not looking too hot.

BTW, the new owner loves the car and is slowly getting it to a point that even we didn't have time to take it to. Hell, it's got real LMs on it

What model year MkIV was it based off of? What engine did it have? Any more details on it?

VW made a concept, maybe that's what you're thinking of. I wonder if they crushed it.

GTI parts car was a Mojave Beige 1.8T smacked hard in the front.
More info:
- No, this project did not bankrupt us
- After the sale of the project and left over parts we cleared a couple grand
- The custom rear windows did not cost $15k
- The custom rear windows did cost us $7k
- We've sold 3 sets of the same windows since (not for $7k)
- Car still has ill-fitting prototype windows installed and owner has the production version in a wooden crate
- We closed shop before we could get to Stage 2
- Stage 2 was full R32 swap incl. driveline, interior and body work (we had all the parts)
- It looked like a Toyota Tercel
- It looked like a Honda Civic
- It should have looked like a New Corrado (whatever the f@ck that means)
- Too many people took this project way too seriously

Seriously, though - this has been my absolute favorite custom MKIV since I first saw it. I think you guys did an amazing job with that car.

$7000 (note that I did not say seven stacks

A very cool project. I'm not a fan of the color, but that's neither here nor there.

We were originally quoted $2k from one company and budgeted around that. When it came time to make the glass, that company bailed on us. Too far along to turn back, I found a Tier 1 contractor for VW do Brasil to make the glass for us.
Simply put, custom DOT-approved OE-spec windows do not come cheaply. But like I posted above, we've sold a few sets subsequent to the project, so a decent amount of that $7k has been recouped.

If you sold other sets of the windows, who did they go to? Other Jetta Coupe projects?I hope that guy has comprehensive glass insurance! His insurance company would hate him if that glass ever broke!

Yeah, but I've yet to see any of those projects completed.
I still have a set left (min order of 5), and I can always have more made
