Yea From Chaos was pretty bad, way too mellow. Grassroots is still my fav. I haven't heard this new song yet. They don't get much play here. 311 w/ Goldfinger (I think) opening was the first concert I went to.

I think all the 311 albums have been good music. I like how 311 has stuck to their roots and have not sold out. I can't wait to hear the new album. 311 played at our Fallfest(WVU) and they f-ing rock!!!

What do you consider "chillin" on the tour bus

Didn't know they have a new one coming out. Now i am psyched!!! I've liked all of their albums, some more than others. Music is still
my favorite and i love Chad's drumming!!!!

311 is one of my top concerts I've been to, and I wasn't even that close, thats how great they were.

They did sellout. Right after their first album "Music". I may be a bit biased cause I have some personal reasons for disliking them. I have met them and an old friend of mine was a roomate with them in Nebraska before they released "Music". They were quite discourteous to us to put it in a nice way. That was right after they released "Grassroots". So, basically they can SUCK IT!

i disagree completely. 311 did not sell out. they are still all about the music. theyre still doing their thing, and sticking to their roots, and playing the music they love to play. they dont change it up because some record exec told them to because it will sell more records. sure theyre on mtv and the radio, but gaining popularity, does not equal selling out.

Huge 311 fan here. Music and Grassroots were definately my favorite albums, but every album has some GREAT songs on it. I agree, they didn't sell out. They play what they want to play, and that's it no matter what the current trend. Nick Hexum has a bit of an ego which annoys me, but still a particularly awesome band overall..

  18. 07-07-2003 07:47 PM #18
Their popularity peak was right after they released Grassroots. They are nothing today except another pop band trying to be different with funky sounds and catchy tunes.

Oh, and they can still suck it for being arsehats to my friend who used to live with them.

  19. 07-07-2003 09:54 PM #19
Hell yeah, I think 311 is one of the most talented bands around right now. They're also one of my favorites. Their musical talent is just so awesome.

    WOO HOO!!!!!
Yeah, give it up for 311, the very best and very original.
I haven't heard their new single yet, but I will definitely be getting their new stuff, 2 weeks from today!!!!!

To me, 311 is all about the music and good times. They're big enough that they've got a loyal following and people have heard of them, yet they stay true.

Have to say Soundsystem was my favourite album, but I like all of their albums.

  22. 07-08-2003 12:48 PM #22
    311 fans woo woo!

i too have not heard their new single yet but i've heard its great. i can't wait to get the new album and see them when they come around on tour! if anyone hasn't seen them live i highly recommend it. their shows are full of energy and a love for music. i have never been disappointed seeing them and i have loved every album so far.

what other band will play a show for 3 hours and 11 mins on march 11th for their fans?

Did you like them after Music? We saw them right before it came out in a dinky venue in Nebraska that had about 40-50 people in it. Then they came to Denver about 2 weeks after Music for a 3 day show ( for $2! each night, the last night with the Bouncing Souls) and they were very cool.

Then everyone started to sound the same and haven't kept up.

Not really. Music was great but Grassroots was kinda iffy and everything after that was blah.

    gotta love grassroots though.

The only cd of theirs I have is From Chaos. I only bought it for the last song on the track...I haven't listened to the cd for so long I don't remember it's name. I kinda liked the mellowness.

I love the "From Chaos" CD. I can't wait to get their new album.

this news just made my week. i have been jamming to Soundsystem lately.

311 is the greatest band on the planet. Every single one of their albums is great, from "Omaha Sessions", to "From Chaos". I have only been a fan since the "Blue" album, because that was when I first herd of them. But since them I have been a die hard fan seeing every concert, and buying everything the day it comes out. It is hard for me to understand how a person could hate 311, they are the most positive, and influential band I have ever herd. Oh well, F-ck the nay-sayers...."no-body can do it like 311, f-in up the competition cause there really is none."
